Oxo Acids and Hydrated Acids

Acids:

According to Liebig, an acid is a compound which contains hydrogen that can be replaced partially or wholly by a metal or a group of elements acting like a metal, to produce a salt.

On the basis of presence of oxygen acids can be classified as follows: 1.    Oxo Acid: Acids that contain both hydrogen and oxygen are called oxo acids. For example, nitric acid (HNO_3), sulphuric acid (H_2SO_4) and phosphoric acid (H_3P0_4) are oxo acids.
